The origins of the acrylic fiber goes back to 1931, when DR. H.Rein of the German company I.G Farbenindustrie performed his first trials to obtain it.  The studies for the production of synthetic fibers were intensified during the Second World War and in 1948 were presented by the first time on the fiber market of Orlon, Dupont and Dralon de Bayer.

The last statistics performed in the year 2012 confirm that the worldwide projected demand of the acrylic fiber is of 1’800,000 TM, according to de Acrylonitrile & Derivates World Supply/ Demand Report, with a forecast of sustainable growth in the next years.
